Â鶹ÊÓƵ

Learn how | Fellowships and scholarships

Over the years, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ has offered opportunities to students to become part of our large and growing international network of health- and social-system leaders and to learn the skills required to find and use evidence to inform health- and social-systems leaders in their decision-making.

While there are currently no student opportunities at the Forum, below is a summary of previous opportunities:

Global skills opportunity

From April 2021 to March 2025, the Forum hosted the Global Skills Opportunity in Developing Skilled Future Leaders in Strengthening Health and Social Systems.

The Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) is a national outbound student mobility program that has enabled more than 16,000 Canadian college and undergraduate-level university students from across the country to acquire the global skills employers want and the Canadian economy needs. A key component of the Government of Canada’s International Education Strategy, GSO is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada and is administered jointly by Colleges and Institutes Canada and Universities Canada.

Queen Elizabeth Scholarships

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ is honoured to be a recipient of two Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship programs. From 2014-18, the Forum’s program focused on strengthening health systems in Commonwealth countries. The Forum was then one of 20 Canadian institutions to receive a second program running from 2018-23 through which we were able expand our focus to include strengthening social systems along with an expanded reach of the program to include all low- and middle-income countries.

Fellowship in Strengthening Health and Social Systems

From 2009 to 2022 the Forum offered a Fellowship in Strengthening Health and Social Systems which provided Â鶹ÊÓƵ students an exceptional opportunity to contribute to exciting priority projects as they emerged and to be part of the Forum community. This program allowed Â鶹ÊÓƵ students to study while also participating actively in the work of the Forum. Fellows were exposed to influential doers and thinkers, contributed in targeted ways to priority Forum-led initiatives (including products and events) and in some cases had the opportunity to complete an internship in a government ministry or an international agency.
