Government of Canada announces $2 million to support a new network to strengthen pandemic planning and response
Since 2020, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ has been leading efforts to build networks to address urgent issues related to pandemic planning and response with robust and rapid evidence syntheses. The newly launched Evidence Synthesis Network for Canada to Support Pandemic Planning and Response, part of a nearly $20 million investment announced today by the Government of Canada, will allow us to continue to provide evidence syntheses to inform responses to emerging threats such as mpox and avian influenza, and areas that require continued planning and responses.
Through this new network, we will partner with 20+ evidence-synthesis teams from across Canada, experts (including those working in pandemics, zoonosis and on equity-related issues), as well as citizen- and Indigenous-advisors who to ensure our work is relevant and useful to all types of decision makers.
This network will leverage our experience providing leadership and support for large domestic (e.g., COVID-END) and international networks (Global Commission on Evidence to Address Societal Challenge and the ). It will also build on our track record of producing policy relevant evidence syntheses across many domains and for key federal agencies, provincial ministries of health and other interest holders.
These investments support the Government of Canada’s ongoing efforts to strengthen pandemic preparedness and protect the health of Canadians and the international community.
