At the time of the QE Scholarship, Yina was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ University, specializing in Global Health. Her academic and community experiences led to her interest in addressing health inequities through systems strengthening and evidence-informed decision-making.

As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Yina interned at the University of Sydney with the Planetary Health Platform. Her work informed the development of regional policies and programs that addressed the health implications of sustainable food systems and thermal stress in urban environments. Through this internship, she hoped to gain critical insights into the process of harnessing evidence and multi-sectoral collaboration to drive systems change.
