Xiaoxi (Grace) Zhou
Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health and Social Systems (2019)At the time of the QE Scholarship, Grace was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours Program at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. She worked as a research assistant at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ where she contributed to synthesizing information for Forum publications, including rapid responses and evidence briefs, and organizing stakeholder dialogues and citizen panels for key members of the healthcare community. Grace also has clinical research experience in pediatric general surgery at the Department of Surgery in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Children’s Hospital and epidemiological research experience at the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University.
As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Grace travelled to Sydney, Australia to intern at the New South Wales Ministry of Health. At the ministry, she contributed to the translation of research evidence into health policy and supporting the research and evaluation of the ministry’s programs and future strategic priorities. Through her internship, Grace hoped to develop a stronger understanding of health care systems in terms of governance arrangements, management, and delivery of health and social services.
