Tiffany Yu

GSO awardee in Developing Skilled Future Leaders in Strengthening Health and Social Systems (2023)

At the time of the GSO award, Tiffany was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ University. She worked as a research assistant for the Global Health Office at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, where she continued to broaden her interest in, and understanding of, public health and equity. In addition, as one of the Senior Office Leads for Health Systems Evidence (HSE) at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ ForumLab, Tiffany helped to maintain HSE database development alongside a dedicated team of research assistants. She also served as the co-president of Seniors with Skills (SWS) Â鶹ÊÓƵ, and enjoys volunteering within her community in her free time.

As a Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) awardee, Tiffany travelled to South Africa to work with the South Africa Centre for Evidence (SACE). Through this experience, she learned more about evidence synthesis in the context of South African public health issues and gained greater cultural understanding by working with various local stakeholders. Tiffany hoped to apply these learnings and help further evidence-based health promotion through her upcoming medical studies in Canada.
