Shiqiang (David) Jin
GSO awardee in Developing Skilled Future Leaders in Strengthening Health and Social Systems (2023)At the time of the GSO award, David was an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. He held the position of a research assistant at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Global Health Office, where he actively explored his interests in public health and evidence based medicine. Additionally, David served as the co-president of Swimming With a Mission Hamilton and dedicates his free time to volunteer work in his community.
Having been awarded the Global Skills Opportunity (GSO), David embarked on a journey to South Africa to collaborate with the South Africa Centre for Evidence (SACE). During this opportunity, he hoped to deepen his knowledge of evidence synthesis within the realm of South African public health concerns. Moreover, working alongside local stakeholders provided him with valuable insights into their culture. David aspires to apply these newfound understandings to promote evidence-based health practices in his future endeavours.
