Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2018)

At the time of the QE Scholarship, Sabrina was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program specializing in Global Health. She hoped to harness the skills she developed in her various experiences to better understand how to effectively translate knowledge within the policymaking sphere to make for better informed policy decisions.

As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Sabrina travelled to Zomba, Malawi for an internship with Dignitas International. She worked on the Malawi Building Research capacity, Implementation, and Translation Expertise (NCD BRITE) capacity building program, which included a trans-disciplinary team led by the University of Malawi College of Medicine, the University of North Carolina, and Dignitas International. Through this experience, Sabrina hoped to develop her critical thinking and research skills while further expanding upon her knowledge of health systems strengthening in a global context.
