At the time of the Forum Fellowship, Puru was entering his third year in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. Having specialized in global health, he sought to explore opportunities in health policy and health-systems strengthening in the context of chronic diseases. With research interests in patient perspectives and cardiovascular disease, Puru hoped to apply skills from his clinical experience to address pressing public health challenges with the Forum.

As an active member of his community, Puru volunteered with various youth development organizations. His interests in global health stem from an appreciation of the socioeconomic factors that influence both patients and health systems. Looking forward, Puru hopes to increase student involvement at the Forum and pursue a career in healthcare as part of an interdisciplinary team.
