At the time of the QE Scholarship, Margret was a graduate student in the Master of Public Health student at Â鶹ÊÓƵ University. Margret previously completed her undergraduate studies at Queen’s University, pursuing a degree in Psychology and Biology. Throughout her studies, she was involved in various organizations, such as the Canadian Undergraduate Conference on Healthcare, where she developed an interest in public health. Her research interests include aging health, chronic illness, refugee and migrant health, and equitable research methods. Outside of her academic work, Margret is the co-founder of The Dandelion Project, a non-profit organization focused on reducing the obstacles that people of colour face when attempting to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Through her work, Margret aims to educate, advocate, and build a sense of community.

As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Margret travelled to Australia where she worked with the Evaluate program at the Sax Institute. While there, Margret contributed to the redesign of a sun safe program for schools. As well, she contributed to an evaluation of a domestic and family violence pilot. By working on these projects, Margret hoped to develop an understanding of the inner workings of public health organizations, as well as the process involved in program evaluation. She also hoped to gain an understanding of global and public health in the Australian context.
