Mahnoor Malik
GSO awardee in Developing Skilled Future Leaders in Strengthening Health and Social SystemsAt the time of the GSO award, Mahnoor was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. She worked at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s ForumLab as a research assistant helping to maintain the COVID-End database, Health Systems Evidence and Social Systems Evidence. She also worked to produce plain language summaries that help support the work of Ontario Health Teams. In addition, Mahnoor has research experience in Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Childhood Diabetes. She volunteers for a charity that helps support educational rights for underprivileged children in Pakistan.
As a Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) awardee, Mahnoor travelled to South Africa to work at the Africa Centre for Evidence (ACE) at the University of Johannesburg. Mahnoor worked on a project that aimed to compile the different methodologies that can be used for evidence synthesis, and how to apply these methods. Through this experience, Mahnoor hoped to understand the importance of evidence synthesis in informing system level policy changes.
