Ka Keat Lim
Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2018)Ka Keat is an aspiring health policy advisor with experience as a healthcare provider as well as a researcher in both government and academic settings. He began his career as a hospital pharmacist and has taken up leadership positions in the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society. Fascinated by the big picture of healthcare and driven by curiosity on health system functioning, he worked as a project manager and later as a research lead in the Healthcare Statistics Unit of Clinical Research Centre under Ministry of Health Malaysia. He also holds a Master’s degree in health policy and health economics.
At the time of the QE Scholarship, Ka Keat was pursuing a PhD in Health Systems and Services Research at Duke NUS Medical School, Singapore. His PhD thesis was on physical function recovery after hip fracture among the older adults and its associated prognostic factors. Ka Keat is interested in policy issues related to ageing, healthcare resources and healthcare utilization. As an incoming Queen Elizabeth Scholar he hoped to learn to work with imperfect evidence through the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ which he expected would help him to explore potential clinical or policy interventions to reduce disability resulting from hip fracture.
