Hannah Serrano

Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health and Social Systems (2019)

At the time of the QE Scholarship, Hannah was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ University. Working as a research assistant at the Forum’s ForumLab along with her clinical research experiences have cultivated an interest in how dynamic needs of a population can be met through health and social system changes supported by evidence-informed policymaking.

As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Hannah travelled to St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago to intern with the Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research and Development (CCHSRD) at the University of West Indies. She assisted with the development of resources, tools and other initiatives to support health policymakers within the Caribbean region. Over the course of her internship, she hoped to gain insight into how the mobilization of research evidence can be conducive to achieving more equitable health outcomes on a systems level.
