Adam F. El-Kadi
Queen Elizabeth Scholar in Strengthening Health and Social Systems (2022)At the time of the QE Scholarship, Adam was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at Â鶹ÊÓƵ University, specializing in Child Health. Adam occupies himself with issues pertaining to health and health care, and ways in which we can start making change now. His academic interest lies mainly in cardiology, reflected by his work as a clinical volunteer at a cardiology clinic and his academic publications in cardiology and cardio-oncology. In clinic, Adam was head of the Diabetes Education program educating patients on diabetes management, physiology, and support through monthly webinars and one-on-one meetings. As the co-founder and president of Lorax, a Â鶹ÊÓƵ Student Union club, Adam worked on bringing the Â鶹ÊÓƵ student community together to break the armchair advocacy cycle and take steps towards sustainable action.
As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Adam travelled to Lebanon to intern at the Knowledge to Policy Centre (K2P) at the American University of Beirut. He worked on reviewing available evidence and systematically eliciting citizen and stakeholder insights to bridge the gap between research, policy, and politics for evidence-informed policymaking. During his internship, Adam hoped to gain greater insight into how evidence synthesis can be translated into policy and change.
